Wayne Root: Can Yankees Go the Distance in 2015?
You longtime readers know that WAYNE ALLYN ROOT was born and raised in New York as a true S.O.B. (son of a butcher!). I still follow the New York sports teams very closely even though I've lived out here in Las Vegas for many years now. I have great connections back in the Big Apple that help me find great bets in all sports. One reason I'm a year-round winner is because I have some great information coming to me from New York...and New York is important year-round!
I have to tell you that there's a lot of optimism right now about the Yankees in gambling (and analytics) circles that I respect. Yes, they're in a dogfight with three other teams in a very tough division (and even fifth place Boston has time to get back into the mix...New Yorkers know to never count out the Sox until they're officially dead!). But, all of the following are great indicators...
*The Yankees lead the AL East despite having played the fewest home games so far of any division team, and despite having played the most road games (along with Boston). It's not a fluke that they're at the top. With slightly more balanced scheduling, they'd probably have a bigger lead.
*The Yankees haven't been enjoying good luck in close games. Sometimes you'll see a team jump out to a divisional lead halfway through the season, but they're 12-4 in one-run games or something. You know that's going to regress, and the team is going to fall back to earth. The Bronx Bombers are 11-11 in one-run games so far, 2-4 in extra innings. If anything, a little bit of good luck may be heading their way.
*The Yankees have a great record vs. other winning teams. After this past weekend, the Yanks were 33-26 against teams .500 or better. Nobody else in the AL is even close to that win volume! Kansas City is the betting favorite to win the league right now, but they're only 20-19. Pretenders often get exposed when facing contenders. The Yankees are battle tested and exposing other teams!
*The Yankees have an excellent offense, currently second in the league in runs-per-game behind Toronto. I'm always emphasizing the ability to score when talking about potential surprise teams. New York appears to have the horses to finish off a surprising run (compared to Preseason odds) at a championship because they're going to be putting runs on the scoreboard.
*The Yankees haven't been able to post lights out pitching numbers because of some injuries, and the patience they've been showing with C.C. Sabathia as they hope he gets things figured out. But, the bullpen ranks sixth in the AL in ERA (second in the division), which is enough to get the job done as long as the offense keeps scoring. Plus, if any of the injured guys can sustain some health...look out in October!
Currently, I'm optimistic about this team's championship hopes. There's still a lot of baseball to be played. And, there's not much margin for error in the tight AL East or the Wildcard race. For now, the indicators are good. In terms of Las Vegas betting...we have to be very careful though. The Yankees are traditionally overpriced because of mainstream media coverage. Even with their success this season, backers of the team are down about 1-2 units even though the team is six games over .500. Value will only become available if the team further lifts its level of play and Vegas oddsmakers are slow to notice.
I do have my eye on a few other value teams though...squads positioned to make good money in the days right after next week's All-Star Break. I can't talk about those teams in a web article because I have to protect the information for my clients. We're going to finish this first half of the season strong through the weekend...then pick right up after the Break as we build bankroll for football.
You can purchase my daily BEST BETS right here at the website with your credit card. I'm not ready to say now that the Yankees (or even the Mets) are going to be a big story in October. But, I can tell you that nobody will be better suited to exploit that possible development than THE KING OF LAS VEGAS! Whatever the sport...I'm the guy who's going to make you a winner. It's time for you to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
