Wayne Root: Will We See Baseball Playoff Shockers? Yes!

With the 2015 Major League Baseball Playoffs starting this week, you know that WAYNE ALLYN ROOT has been on the lookout for great underdog situations. The field is usually ripe for surprises in this sport because anything can happen in the playoffs! What drives the TV networks crazy (because they lose out on marquee matchups) can create a gold mine for smart handicappers.

Obviously, I can't tell you here in a web article which upsets I'll be calling over the next few days. That wouldn't be fair to paying clients. And, there's always some flux in pitching rotations because managers want to keep their options open. I may plan an upset call now for the weekend only to see my pitcher scratched on game day. Fine with me...I always keep my options open as well. I will give you some big picture guidance for making great underdog bets in the playoffs.

*First, remember that quality pitching often "cancels out" in a way that reduces the impact of an ace starter. It's common in the playoffs for Cy Young type studs to be laying as high as -150 or -200 in a matchups against a decent opponent...and then the game is 1-1 heading into the seventh inning. The difference between A-plus and A-minus may not even show up over six innings in tight playoff conditions where offenses are nervous and umpires are calling everything close a strike. Don't forget that weird starting times can create shadows on the field that also help the slightly inferior pitcher keep it close through his outing. The general public invests too heavily in the aces at the expense of other decent arms. You should look for spots where you can fade an ace for value in a potential high paying upset.

*Second, you regulars know I'll be emphasizing the need to score runs! This is true in all sports. Taking underdogs with overmatched offenses is an invitation to lose heartbreakers. You must be able to score enough to win...or there's no reason to get involved. So, be sure you study the offensive strengths and weaknesses of each team. Invest in home run power. Invest in good road offenses facing a relatively generic home pitcher in Game Three of Game Four of a series. The public spends too much time looking at starting pitching and not enough looking at how runs are scored. The single most important "big picture" advantage you can have over the field is being well-versed on the offenses.

*Third, and I can't emphasize this enough this year...look at BULLPENS. The most vulnerable bullpens will really be exposed in the next few days...while the most dominant bullpens are going to be winning games left and right. Look to take those elite bullpens when their teams are installed as small or medium underdogs. Look to back any big favorite that isn't 100% confident in their eighth and ninth inning arms. Upset calls will be cashed because of what happens over the final outs or in extra innings.

Now, any of those should grab your attention. But, look for convergences where they work together to increase your win potential.

*Take the best offenses as dogs vs. opposing studs who are probably overpriced
*Take the best bullpens vs. opposing studs who are probably overpriced
*See if you can find a team that's really strong offensively and in the bullpen
(Hopefully I haven't said too much!) we get later into the playoffs...other dynamics will come into play. Some ace starters will be working on short rest...and that usually diminishes their ability to impact a game. Maybe they're great for five innings instead of seven or eight. That's going to matter! The weather will cool off in ways that will help some pitchers but hurt others. Some doors are already open...others will be opening soon for handicappers and bettors who love outsmarting oddsmakers and the media in October!

I'm the only man in the sports betting industry with a star on the "Walk of Fame" here in Las Vegas. That's because I've been outsmarting the market for decades! I love postseason baseball because it adds to our bankrolls for all the big weekend football. My daily BEST BETS in all sports can always be purchased right here at the website with your credit card. If you have any questions about which of my programs best suits your individual needs, please talk to one of my representatives in the office at 1-877-ROOT-WINS. You should be winning seven days a week through October!

I'll be back this weekend to talk in-depth about Sunday's much hyped New England Patriots/Dallas Cowboys football game. Sportsbooks were already reporting record action in that game in the first few days it was on the board! A perfect article topic for THE KING OF LAS VEGAS.

Don't be overwhelmed by the unpredictable nature of postseason baseball. EMBRACE IT! If everything was predictable, moneylines would be perfect and you'd never make any money. I'm telling you now that moneylines won't be perfect...and will often be way off in upcoming baseball action. And...that's time for YOU to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
