Wayne Root: Jets Now Control Their Own Destiny!

All it took was a 10-point favorite losing outright to an inexperienced quarterback...and a coin-flip blunder by their opponent that helped make things a bit easier in overtime...and the J-E-T-S...JETS-JETS-JETS now control their own destiny for an AFC Wildcard berth heading into Week 17.

*The Jets beat New England 26-20 in overtime (though the game was a lot more one-sided than that if you look at the stats. This was a must-win spot against their most hated rival. Fans were crying tears of joy afterward calling it the highlight of their lives!

*The Jets were helped TREMENDOUSLY when Pittsburgh lost at Baltimore 20-17 to Ryan Mallett and the Ravens. That's right...Ryan Mallett! Pittsburgh had been one of the hottest teams in the NFL over the past month. They took their eye off the ball (and got hit with a Mallett!) at just the wrong time.

Of course, the Jets aren't IN the playoffs just yet. They could lose on the road in Buffalo next week. You know that former coach Buddy Ryan would love nothing better than to have his Bills prevent the Jets from playing in the postseason. If the Jets lose next week and Pittsburgh wins as a favorite at Cleveland, then the Steelers get in.

Many TV pundits were scratching their heads when the early results went final Sunday. Not clients of WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!

PINNACLE PLAY: NY Jets (+3) beat New England 26-20
PERFECT PLAY: Baltimore (+10) beat Pittsburgh 20-17
MILLIONAIRE PLAY: Atlanta (+7) beat Carolina 20-13

I did suffer a loser on Tennessee because the Titans kept turning the ball over. But THE KING OF UPSETS scored three more outright winners...proving once again why I'm the all-time leader in all of handicapping in documented upset calls.

Some quick notes:

*I mentioned the Jets game shouldn't have been that close. The Patriots had a defensive touchdown. New York won total yardage 428-284, rushing yardage 143-63, and third down conversions 38% to 10% (Pats just 1 of 10!). The Jets gained just over six yards a play while the Pats gained just over five yards a play. This should have been a double digit cover!

*Baltimore actually dominated an overconfident and flat Pittsburgh. Total yardage was 386-303, while third down conversions were 50% to 25%. I'm not the biggest Ryan Mallett fan in the world because he can't be counted on to keep his concentration going for weeks at a time. But, this was a career-saving spot and he was facing an overconfident defense that's not very good to begin with. He was going to get a lot of passing yards. If he could avoid turnovers, they'd be in position to score the upset. He did...and they did!

*Atlanta was another big dog well-positioned to knock off a flat favorite. This was a divisional revenge scenario from a very recent loss. And, you saw Carolina lose intensity last week vs. the Giants. Atlanta won total yardage here 373-268, third down conversions 60% to 40%, and yards-per-play 6.0 to 5.2.

So...we're not talking about three spots where WAYNE ALLYN ROOT "got lucky" with special teams points or long shot miracles. That's not how I win my games. The only man in the sports betting industry with a star on the Walk of Fame here in Las Vegas spotted fantastic live dog situations...then won SCOREBOARD and TOTAL YARDS! Two covered by two touchdowns apiece, and the Jets would have been a double digit cover in regulation if not for the defensive touchdown.

I had planned on talking more about the bowls today. Thanks to all of you who won with me Saturday. Our PINNACLE play on Duke won outright in extra time (after covering at the end of regulation) and our INNER CIRCLE game on Nebraska was one of the easiest winners so far in the college postseason. (Nebraska won total yardage 500-386, and rushing yardage 326-67!)

We start a new week of bowl action Monday. Still a lot of appearances coming up for the Pac 12 (2-1 ATS so far...and I faded UCLA) and the Mountain West (4-1 ATS so far). I know these teams from my backyard like the back of my hand. And, I'm really excited about the elite conferences from the rest of the country finally appearing on the TV schedule. Las Vegas will really be rocking for the Final Four. THE KING OF LAS VEGAS is ready!

You can purchase all of my top NFL and college football bowl plays (plus basketball!) right here at the website with your credit card. If you have any questions about which of my services best suits your individual needs, please talk to one of my representatives in the office at 1-877-ROOT-WINS. Have you been dragging your heels trying to win on your own? Aren't you tired of hearing about the upsets you've been missing?!

I'll be back with you in a couple of days to talk generally about upset potential in the Final Four and New Year's Day college football action. The public loves betting favorites in the big TV games. Sometimes that works...sometimes it ruins their New Year! Don't forget that Ohio State was an underdog vs. both Alabama and Oregon a year ago in the Final Four. Then, over the weekend, I'm sure I'll at least touch on Jets/Bills while looking at the overall upset potential for the final Sunday of the 2015-16 season.

If you don't know when the next big surprise is about to strike...it's time for you to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
