I know many of you are already thinking ahead to the major conference college basketball tournaments that begin in a few days. You know what? The players are too! No matter how many warnings they hear from their head coaches about staying focused this weekend… everyone knows that the games that REALLY matter are later in March.
This sets up an ideal scenario for underdog bettors like WAYNE ALLYN ROOT. I’m known as THE KING OF UPSETS because I have more documented upset calls than any other man in the sports betting industry. I’m fully confident we’ll see some upsets between now and “the close of business” late Sunday when the regular season officially comes to an end.
I’m not going to talk too specifically about the teams I’m looking to fade this weekend. That information is for paying clients. But, I can outline the general strategies I use to make upset calls over the last weekend of the season.
*Look to go against teams who have already locked in a “top four” seed in their conference tournament. They’ve accomplished what they wanted to in terms of favored positioning. There’s not much to be gained by going all out for a result this weekend. In fact, the last thing these kids want to do is get tired or hurt in what amounts to a meaningless game! Oddsmakers will price all the name teams like they’re playing with peak intensity. But, we know they won’t be. You can make upset calls against them with motivated opposing underdogs. Or, just fade them for value because the lines will be a few points too high even if the underdog is fairly generic.
*Look to go against teams who are in “bracketology” discussions about #1 or #2 national seeds in the Big Dance. You might be thinking all of those teams “want” to win because seeding is so important in the Dance. The media will sure be making that case during game telecasts. History has shown the opposite is more likely. Teams like this play either flat (looking ahead) or distracted (worrying too much about it). And, this happens at generally inflated pointspreads against opponents who are looking to make headlines with an upset. That’s about as good as it gets for a major upset call! I said I wouldn’t get very specific. At least, here, I’ve narrowed it down to about a dozen teams who are in danger of playing flat. Can you do-it-yourselfers do the rest of the work?
*Look to go against Dance-bound teams who are facing a revenge-minded opponent. Motivational mismatches must be exploited. If the favorite is flat because this is a meaningless game compared to what’s ahead… but the underdog is fired up because they lost the first meeting between the two teams… slam dunk! It’s certainly true that revenge can be overrated as a betting angle. And, I wouldn’t go around betting on really bad teams just because they lost the first meeting. But, you’re going to find some quality teams in revenge spots this weekend. Be sure you know who has revenge!
*Give a few extra points for “home court advantage” if things line up well for you on a home team against a highly regarded visitor. That visitor will be thinking about next week and beyond. But, the home crowd is dying to cheer for a win… storm the floor at the final buzzer… then jump up and down for the cameras. Home court isn’t worth just 3-4 points in a matchup like this. Might be double that for some teams in high energy arenas.
Obviously, your biggest bets… my PINNACLE PLAYS are when everything I just discussed lines up perfectly in the same game. Can you find any revenge-minded home underdogs who will be looking to topple highly regarded but distracted powers?

I’m the only man in the sports betting industry with a star on the "Walk of Fame" here in Las Vegas. That’s because I win year-round in ALL sports. Whether it’s the college football bowls… the NFL Playoffs… or my March Madness Program, I’m the man to call when championships are up for grabs. But, I’m also the man to call just before the postseason (in all sports) because that’s when the market is so ripe for upsets!
See you again in a few days, when we’ll start focusing on how to pick upsets in the Major Conference Tournaments. This year in particular could get very wild because the so-called "elites" just aren’t that far ahead of their competition. I’ve been talking about that all year. We’ve seen it again this week! The stage is set for my clients and I to go on a sustained run of excellence. That means it’s time for YOU to go to W.A.R. alongside WAYNE ALLYN ROOT!
