You've probably already read many of the articles in the mainstream media about how Sunday was one of the biggest days ever for Las Vegas Sportsbooks. Underdogs covered almost all of the busy early schedule. An underdog won outright Sunday night. The public loves betting favorites...favorites got crushed!

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT loves making upset calls and taking free points with underdogs...so ROOT TRUST clients made a fortune! And, that was on top of the fortune they made Saturday with similarly great calls.

SATURDAY (4-1)
Inner Circle: TCU +12.5 wins OUTRIGHT at Okie State
No Limit: Iowa +11 almost wins outright vs. Penn State
Millionaire: Kentucky +2.5 leads all but the final seconds vs. Florida
Perfect Play: Georgia -4 routs Mississippi State as my only favorite
Pinnacle: Air Force +3 leads all but the final seconds, brutal ATS loss!

SUNDAY (4-1)
Pinnacle: Buffalo +3 beats Denver OUTRIGHT
No Limit: Chicago +7 beats Pittsburgh OUTRIGHT
Millionaire: NY Jets +6 beats Miami OUTRIGHT
Inner Circle: Washington +3 beats Oakland OUTRIGHT
Perfect Play: San Diego +3 loses to Kansas City

That's 8-2 against the number for a powerful 80% winners. That's five OUTRIGHT underdog victories that very easily could have been EIGHT of nine! The only favorite was an immediate obvious winner that was never in doubt.

The main reason that WAYNE ALLYN ROOT hasn't been banned from Las Vegas sportsbooks is that I'm often rooting for the same side they are. Books were very one-sided on Denver, Pittsburgh, and Oakland in particular. They were happy my clients and I were there to help balance the books with Buffalo, Chicago, and Washington (though, action was so one-sided, those games had no chance to truly balance!)

And, why am I often on the same side as sportsbooks? Because the public is BADLY misinformed by the mainstream media, and their own conversations with friends who make the same mistakes the do.

You see...

*Denver was supposed to KILL Buffalo, there's no way that the team who crushed Dallas would lose to the lowly Bills. Wrong! There had to be a thousand guys at bars in Vegas who wouldn't shut up about it.

*Pittsburgh could name the score in Chicago. One TV pundit said he would walk back to his home city from Chicago if the Steelers lost. Hope you brought hiking boots!

*Oakland is the most popular Super Bowl bet in Las Vegas so far, and they'd looked great. Washington couldn't even stay within 10 points of the Eagles on the same field two weeks earlier. The Raiders would coast!

It's never as easy as it seems to the public, particularly when everyone's lining up behind the same favorites. Things that "don't make sense" to bad bettors often make all the sense in the world to smart, experienced bettors. I've been telling you that for YEARS! You old-timers probably remember me talking about that on TV back in the 1980's and 90's.

*Denver was due for a letdown off the big win, and would be dealing with a bad body clock against a live home dog that was due to score some points.

*Pittsburgh has a history of playing poorly on the road, they only beat Cleveland by a field goal two weeks earlier. That same day, Chicago almost beat defending NFC champion Atlanta at the same Soldier Field.

*Oakland was making its second cross-country trip of the short season already, and had shown a surprisingly soft pass defense vs. the Jets the prior week.

The colleges seem like old news already. But, Penn State's "productive but safe" offense was always going to have trouble winning a blowout in a place like Iowa. I think Air Force would have won outright by at least a touchdown if a long weather delay hadn't taken away their momentum. It took really bad luck to keep me from a 90% weekend!

And, folks, that's just the beginning. We're just now getting to the point in the college season where projected national powers are overpriced because of media hype. You saw that up and down the card Saturday. We won fading Oklahoma State and Penn State. But Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, and Florida State all also failed to cover as big favorites. You won't believe the pointspread carnage for media darlings that's coming up in October.

The NFL? All current playoff contenders have weaknesses that can be exploited. Even powerful New England is only 1-2 ATS (nearly 1-2 straight up!). Many of the projected worst teams can compete when they avoid turnovers. That means teams that squares wouldn't want to touch with a 10-foot pole will be in position to score an upset one or two times a month.
