There's been so much going on in college basketball recently, particularly OFF the court with stories that TV pundits love to debate all day long on cable, an incredible development has stayed off the media radar. With their 76-64 win Sunday over Penn State as a 2-point favorite, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are now an incredible 18-2 against the spread over their last 20 games.

Bettors make money at 11-9, and a lot of money at 13-7. Nebraska has only failed to cover two times out of 20.

Interestingly, there are a pair of 8-0 streaks in that long run.

*From December 5 to January 12: 8-0 in all board games
*Non-cover in a close home win over Illinois
*From January 18 to February 13: 8-0 in all board games
*Non-cover in a road loss at Illinois
*2-0 since with home win/covers over Indiana and Penn State

How about this, Nebraska has covered 18 straight games when not playing Illinois! The first long streak lasted more than a month. The second lasted just under a month. Yet, few have noticed enough to take full advantage. It all seemed like a fluke to many of those who even noticed.

How much longer can this streak go? Well, this is where it gets interesting. Nebraska might not even make the NCAA Tournament. They've been on the wrong side of the bubble all season because of a less than impressive start and a very weak schedule. Even during this multi-month run, they've been fortunate in their Big 10 draw. The resume is borderline at best. Nebraska may only have a couple more games!

*Nebraska's fourth place finish in the Big 10 (beating out Michigan) gets the Huskers a double bye into a high-pressure matchup that may be too tough to handle.

*Nebraska will likely be an underdog in its first Dance encounter, and the Huskers haven't played consistently well against Dance-caliber opposition.

Of course, that's a worst-case scenario. This team is playing with such spunk and fire that it could make a deep run in the Big 10 tourney (played this week at Madison Square Garden in New York). And, it's certainly capable of scoring a first round upset in the Dance, or of winning a few home games if they have to settle for the NIT. Maybe there are three of four more ATM withdrawals awaiting Nebraska backers.

You'll have to wait until game day to see if JIM HURLEY is investing in Nebraska again this week. Sunday's win over Penn State was among the highlights in a 7-3 weekend performance in college hoops. With Nebraska in mind, we want to make a few points today that could influence your thinking and handicapping in the postseason.

*There are teams out there across the landscape that the market has just missed the boat on. Some are underrated. Some were so overrated it took weeks for the lines to adjust downward. You should know who these teams are!

*Great value often exists just below the surface of media hype. The Big 10 gets a lot of TV coverage, particularly the Michigan schools, Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and even Penn State this season. Nebraska isn't a big TV draw in this sport, and doesn't get prime windows for coverage. Use that as a hint to go through the other major conferences to find value teams who cash tickets because oddsmakers don't ever watch them on TV!

*Enthusiasm and energy are still being underrated by analytics types who only look at talent. Nebraska doesn't necessarily wow you with athleticism. We heard some preview pundits saying Sunday morning that Penn State had the better athletes than Nebraska. That's why the line was so low. It was never a game! Nebraska's coaching staff knows what to do with the talent on hand. See if you can find other off-the-radar programs who are playing with this much intensity and enthusiasm.

*While trends can be overrated, simply recognizing which teams are being mis-priced is a must-have skill for winning sports bettors. Be sure you're paying attention to performance from a market perspective. In recent weeks, who have oddsmakers been overrating and underrating?
